Hello!

I decided to write this to give a bit of information about myself and my work. I am always full with work and this means that I do not have the time to respond to my messages and my notes in a timely manner. Nevertheless, trust that I read each and every one of the messages that I receive and that I appreciate every single one of you and that I will eventually get to respond to all of you. I really thank you for your support, it makes me keep on going and keep on pushing myself to make better art everyday.

I have also decided to make a small FAQ section here so people know whats up with stuff like commissions or my technique or anything else that you guys might usually wonder. So here it is!

Do you take commissions?
Yes! write me an email at jozeariaz@gmail.com and let me know what you need! Then we can work something out and I will let you know al bout my commission process.

Are commissions free?
No. Being an artist is a profession like any other, and like any profession it deserves to be payed like any other. How much I charge depends on the needs of the client, the time spent, the difficulty and complexion of the piece and on the deadline.

How can I contact you directly?
If you want to talk business, email me at: jozeariaz@gmail.com
If you want to just chat and be friends keep on reading :)

Can I use your already made stuff for my own project / album / whatever?
No. Unfortunately I have to be quite strict about this since some of my work may already be in use by someone else. I want to avoid not being able to upload client work and show you guys everything that I do. Please dont steal my work. If you want something done for a project just contact me and we can definitely reach an agreement! I am usually very relaxed with pricing and everything.

What software do you use?
My favorite weapon is Adobe Photoshop CS6. But I also know how to use Illustrator, Corel Painter, InDesign, and Sketchbook pro, among other things.

What software do you use to record your process?
The program is called "iShow U HD" but if you are interested in recording yourself there are plenty of programs out there like iShow U or Camtasia,

Where can I find your videos?
You can find them right here: www.youtube.com/user/JozeAriaz

Why are your videos so fast!?? I thought they were tutorials!!

First of all, I started the recording of my own process to learn from myself and from my mistakes. Right now it is purely auto-didactic. I have been considering to make a proper tutorial but I still have tons to learn myself. But I will let you know when I come up with one :)

What hardware do you use?
I have a Cintiq 24HD touch at home in which I make most of my work and speedpaints. I also paint in a wireless intuos from time to time.

I want to be your friend!

Xiongnu
I'm not really into Disney movies. But if I had to pick I guess my favourite one would by far be Mulan. And obviously my favourite character would be Shan Yu, that badass Hun that invades the Chinese empire. But as a lover of history, I began researching about these "Chinese Huns". Wait, weren't the Huns the same guys that Attila lorded over and used to break the Roman Empire? I'm confused.

Apparently they were not the same people. The Huns invaded mainly western Europe and were riding around in horses and raiding everything they could get their hands and arrows on. Since they belong to a vast region of the world where these confederations used similar tactics (Firing arrows while riding horses, guerrilla tactics, among others), there were countless of factions that sprung all over Eastern Europe and Asia. Some scholars wanted to connect the huns to the Xiongnu so the matter of their origins would be settled, but no evidence has been really found to link both factions.

Here is what I found on the Database of Academic Research Journals about the Xiongnu:

The
Xiongnu (Old Chinese: /qʰoŋ.naː/, Wade-Giles: Hsiung-nu),[1][2] were a large confederation [3] of Eurasian nomads who dominated the Asian Steppe from the late 3rd century BC to the late 1st century AD. Chinese sources from the 3rd century BC report them as having created an empire under Modu Chanyu, the supreme leader after 209 BC.[4] This empire (209 BC — 93 AD) stretched beyond the borders of modern-day Mongolia. After defeating the previously dominant Yuezhi in the 2nd century BC, the Xiongnu became a dominant power on the steppes of central and eastern Asia. They were active in regions of what is now southern SiberiaMongoliaInner MongoliaGansu and Xinjiang. Relations between early adjacent Chinese dynasties to the south east and the Xiongnu were complex, with repeated periods of military conflict and intrigue, alternating with exchanges of tribute, trade, and marriage treaties.
